Munk, death and canonization
Nuno Álvares Pereira, national hero of Portugal, was born in Cernache do Bonjardim, the place were we live these days. He begun his life as a warrior, protected Portugal for Spanish domination, and ended as a munk, Carmelite. In 2009 he was declared a saint. I got a order from the local council to depict his life in 5 panels. The work is to be seen in the 'silence space' of the newly build service and elderycenter of Cernache.
